Laganbank Retail Park
This project involved the renovation and alteration of a 24,800 sq. ft. retail unit in Lisburn. Turkington Aluminium & PVC was appointed by the main contractor to supply & install the curtain walling. APS curtain walling, made with toughened safety glass, was used. Record automatic bi-folding and sliding doors were also installed. At all times we worked closely with the main contractor to ensure any difficulties were quickly overcome to the client’s satisfaction.
We always comply with the highest levels of safety regulations whether the project is commercial, retail or residential. The project was valued at approximately £160,000 and we completed it on budget, ahead of time and to the complete satisfaction of the client.
Nissan Car Showroom and Garage, Athlone
The project involved installing aluminium curtain walling to a new showroom and garage. The showroom now has a bright and stylish frontage which perfectly showcases the cars on sale.

Colby House
This large-scale project involved the manufacture and installation of aluminium windows, doors and curtain walling for a prestigious government building. Colby House in Belfast is home to the General Register Office for Northern Ireland. We worked alongside contractors throughout this project which required an extensive amount of project management. Turkington Aluminium & PVC has the skills and expertise needed to take on any commercial project, big or small. The finished result looks impressive and both the client and contractor were extremely pleased with our quality of work and attention to detail.
Eikon Exhibition Centre
Working with property development and construction specialists OCP Belfast on this high-profile project. Turkington Aluminium & PVC were asked to supply and install 500m² of curtain walling to the newly extended exhibition centre. The project’s aim was to create a functional frontage to ease entry access during events. We installed a glazed atrium and aluminium entrance doors to this large commercial building. Each length of curtain walling was cut on-site to achieve precise angles that give the appearance of a continuous radius.
Tesco Superstore
Working for high profile client Tesco, the project involved meeting strict deadlines to achieve a vital store opening date for this 58,000sq ft Tesco superstore. The project included curtain walling to one full elevation and a quantity of aluminium windows and more curtain walling to the end elevations. A significant factor in this project was the ability to meet stringent energy and air-tightness requirements. We also constructed an entrance foyer in line with Tesco’s drive for improved energy efficiency in-store.
Our Lady & St Patricks College
This is a voluntary school catering for the educational needs of approximately 1260 pupils. A large-scale project involving the supply and installation of aluminium windows, doors, curtain walling, and automated roof lights. Working alongside main contractors O’Hare and McGovern, and the local school authority; we completed this project with efficiency and professionalism on time and to budget.
Student Accommodation, Jordanstown
The project was based at Ulster University’s Jordanstown campus. The site consists of 620-unit accommodation blocks, with an administration building for the Ulster University. The site offers dual usage as quality student facilities during university semesters & holiday apartments through the summer break. The project involved installing PVCu windows and entrance doors to the en-suite student accommodation units.
St Benedicts College
This large-scale project involved carrying out extensive installations to this post primary school college when the school was functioning. It was vital that minimum disruption was caused to the school’s live working environment. Working for the local Education Authority, we replaced all the PVCu windows including the installation of new steel lintels. We also completed repairs to the existing roof down-stand and several concrete window cills. The property is a two-storey detached college located in Randalstown, Co. Antrim.
Student Accommodation, Coleraine
Working for Ulster University to supply and install PVCu windows and doors to new Student Accommodation buildings and an administration block at Cranagh, Coleraine. The installation entailed working on accommodation totalling 350 bedrooms.
Office & Retail Development
Working for main contractor JH Turkington & Sons on a Belfast city centre commercial office development project. The project consisted of installing curtain walling, aluminium windows and balcony doors. The project was unique as the building’s glazed front façade leans outwards away from the building and overhangs the street. The front facade also incorporates three glass roofs which required rigorous design details to ensure the integrity of the building envelope. Access to the site was limited, however we completed the project on time and to our usual high standard. As part of the project, we also installed glazing and access to an upper exterior mezzanine area.
Tesco Supermarket
For this large-scale project, Turkington Aluminium & PVC had responsibility for all the glazing elements of this Tesco store. The project involved the installation of a large glazed envelope, curtain walling, and entry doors. The glazing forms an integral part of the building’s frontage which includes 1350m² of curtain walling and several automatic sliding doors. All work was completed on schedule in eight weeks and despite being manufactured to an agreed specification, extensive on-site assembly was still required. The value of the contract was in the region of £500k.
Group 4 Security Building
Our client for this project, G4S is a multi-national security company. The project entailed the installation of high specification glazing into a highly secure Alarm Response Centre. The building was of steel framed construction with block work skin and a significant amount of security grade glazing. We used low-e tinted glazing with aluminium windows and curtain walling to successfully complete the project.
Eastpoint Entertainment Village
Working for main contractor JH Turkington & Sons at Eastpoint Entertainment Village in Belfast. Eastpoint is a leisure and entertainment destination, located east of Belfast. It is anchored by an eight screen Omniplex cinema which is adjoined by several high specification restaurant and retail units. For the project, we installed curtain walling on the Omniplex Cinema and shop front screens and commercial doors on the individual restaurants and units.
Aldi Supermarkets
Turkington Aluminium & PVC are the approved supplier of windows, doors, shop fronts, and curtain wall systems for Aldi’s supermarket expansion programme. During this project, we worked on 18 new Aldi supermarkets at various locations across Ireland. Both product and service levels were critical, with a fast track turnaround and quality of the final product key to a successful project handover.
Kennedy Retail Centre
Working for award winning project development and construction company Heron Brothers, at a large retail centre in Belfast. The project involved installing curtain walling and doors to the Kennedy Centre’s main structure and installing shop-fronts to several individual retail units for Sainsbury’s Supermarket. Critical to the success of all retail projects was the ability to complete on time and to budget. It was also essential that the installations were aesthetically pleasing, met stringent energy and air tightness requirements, and had the strength and durability to cope with the volume of traffic associated with a modern shopping centre and supermarket.
Tesco Express & Shop Units
Working for Tesco plc, the project entailed the installation of a shop front incorporating high volume automatic doors. This project also included frameless glazing in a larger retail development including a pharmacy, coffee shop and Tesco Express. Tesco also chose our comprehensive guarantee service. To underpin the quality of our product and installation we provided a dedicated service team to respond if problems arose, giving customers peace of mind that their installation is serviced into the future.
Beauwood Manor Housing Development
Beauwood Manor Housing Development – Each home in this prestigious development was finished to a very high standard, the windows and doors for each property differed in design and colour, which helped to differentiate each unique property.
David Prentice, Car Showroom, Tyrone
This project involved installing aluminium curtain walling, shop-front and doors for a car showroom in Omagh, Co. Tyrone. The aluminium on this project was manufactured in a range of vibrant colours to reflect the brand values of Mini for this Mini showroom.
Aldi Supermarket
This Aldi supermarket was a fast-track construction project. Strict deadlines were in place, with all installations needing to be completed within a limited time scale. All aluminium windows and curtain walling were manufactured and cut off-site, to agreed sizes from detailed plans to minimise on-site time for the main contractor.
McGinnis Construction
Working for our client McGinnis Construction, we were responsible for the supply and installation of secure high performance A rated PVCu windows and composite doors. We won this contract on our ability to deliver the specified products on time, and for our comprehensive after sales care and support.
Law Society House
Turkington Aluminium & PVC supplied and installed all the windows and structural glazing for this eye-catching building, including the centre-piece multi floor entrance foyer. The façade design incorporated Brise Soleil and tinted glazing to provide solar shading and solar control to enhance usability. The finish was anodised bronze aluminium which adds greatly to the aesthetic appearance. Of particular note were the number of flashing details which were of a bespoke design to ensure intricate interface details were accurately constructed and installed.
Government Building
Working for the Estate Services Business Unit of the Police Service of Northern Ireland on this significant commercial project. The project involved the installation of aluminium windows and curtain walling at a multi-storey, mixed use facility in downtown Belfast. The entire building is a low carbon design with the glazed units designed and installed to maximise energy efficiency and security.
Luxury Apartments
Working for main contractor JH Turkington & Sons at a high end residential development. The project at Oceanview Apartments, Castlerock was an extremely high specification requiring the installation of top quality PVC windows and doors into a luxury turnkey apartment block and maisonette development.
Social Housing, Flintshire
Turkington Aluminium & PVC completed a Secured by Design composite door replacement contract to over 400 properties for Flintshire County Council in North Wales. The work was carried out under the Better Homes programme and involved tenant liaison and coordinating public meetings to inform the various stakeholders on plans and progress. The project was successfully completed on schedule and met all necessary criteria.
Juvenile Justice Centre
A sensitive project installing high security windows to a Juvenile Justice Centre in County Durham. The project required high security windows and automated blind systems to be fitted to all the bedrooms. The glazing system needed to be anti-ligature and fully secure from both inside and outside. The project also involved the installation of a significant element of curtain walling and commercial doors to access secure courtyard areas.
Fraser Homes
For this project, we were required to supply and install ultra-secure high performance triple glazed windows and thermally efficient composite doors to a new build site in Carryduff, Co. Down. We worked alongside our client, Fraser Homes and it was vital for them to have a partner who could maintain high standards throughout the project.
Social Housing NIHE
Working in conjunction with the NIHE (Northern Ireland Housing Executive) and building company Mascott Construction to renovate over 1000 homes. This two year project involved the supply and installation of new PVCu windows and doors, and the correct disposal of all old windows and doors.
