Colby House
This large-scale project involved the manufacture and installation of aluminium windows, doors and curtain walling for a prestigious government building. Colby House in Belfast is home to the General Register Office for Northern Ireland. We worked alongside contractors throughout this project which required an extensive amount of project management. Turkington Aluminium & PVC has the skills and expertise needed to take on any commercial project, big or small. We always ensure that the client’s specifications are followed and that deadlines and budgets are adhered to. The finished result looks impressive and both the client and contractor were extremely pleased with our quality of work and attention to detail.
Office & Retail Development
Working for main contractor JH Turkington & Sons on a Belfast city centre commercial office development project. The project consisted of installing curtain walling, aluminium windows and balcony doors. The project was unique as the building’s glazed front façade leans outwards away from the building and overhangs the street. The front facade also incorporates three glass roofs which required rigorous design details to ensure the integrity of the building envelope. Access to the site was limited, however we completed the project on time and to our usual high standard. As part of the project, we also installed glazing and access to an upper exterior mezzanine area.
Law Society House
Turkington Aluminium & PVC supplied and installed all the windows and structural glazing for this eye-catching building, including the centre-piece multi floor entrance foyer. The façade design incorporated Brise Soleil and tinted glazing to provide solar shading and solar control to enhance usability. The finish was anodised bronze aluminium which adds greatly to the aesthetic appearance. Of particular note were the number of flashing details which were of a bespoke design to ensure intricate interface details were accurately constructed and installed.
Government Building
Working for the Estate Services Business Unit of the Police Service of Northern Ireland on this significant commercial project. The project involved the installation of aluminium windows and curtain walling at a multi-storey, mixed use facility in downtown Belfast. The entire building is a low carbon design with the glazed units designed and installed to maximise energy efficiency and security.
Juvenile Justice Centre
A sensitive project installing high security windows to a Juvenile Justice Centre in County Durham. The project required high security windows and automated blind systems to be fitted to all the bedrooms. The glazing system needed to be anti-ligature and fully secure from both inside and outside. The project also involved the installation of a significant element of curtain walling and commercial doors to access secure courtyard areas.
